關於國立臺灣博物館

About National Taiwan Museum

National Taiwan Museum, the oldest still standing museum in Taiwan, was founded as a natural history museum in 1908 under Japanese colonization, and transformed into a museum system with four different themed branches in 2005 for its decolonization purpose. The Museum has extended its scope from natural history to a variety of topics including cultural heritage preservation, indigenous history justice, diversity and inclusion, accessibility and equity, and the sustainable development of Taiwanese society.

關於「博物館多聲道」首都博物城祭:雙語導覽員培訓營

About "Museums as polyphonic spaces" International Docent Training Program

The Museum has been organizing International Docent Training Program since 2017, inviting students interested in Taiwanese culture and history and guided tours to be part of the docent team of the Museum. In this Program, you will be able to understand the most iconic cultural heritages in downtown Taipei, and connect Taiwan's history with the scenery. It is a great chance for you to learn how architectures serve as an expression of ideology, and how the modern Taiwanese society was shaped by the major historic events, and how your personal experience and culture can be incorporated into your own guided tours. What's more, it's also a great chance for you to meet people with different cultural backgrounds with the same passion and interest.

This year, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) is finally deciding its new definition for museums in Pragueafter more than three years' efforts. The new definition will certainly draw much attention to contemporary issues that have been highlighted in recent years, including diversity, inclusion and sustainability. And we will be touching upon these issues in our training program as well!

Due to the COVID-19 situation this summer, we are making our program available for overseas students as well! Major training sessions will go online. Opportunities to join physical tours are also available.
