Building a Better Future? Public Housing and the Ideal Modern Life
For over a hundred years, public housing has been an important way for many countries to solve housing problems. The numerous public housing plans around the world reflect the policies and social values of different times, and they have deeply influenced living environments and the development of communities. Whatever these forms of public housing are called, they are all policy instruments used by countries to manage and mediate housing problems at different levels. At the same time, public housing is responsible for creating a livable ideal modern life, while also serving as an important site for putting new design concepts into practice.
This exhibition explores the process of how public housing design creates an ideal modern life through about 40 examples of public housing design from around the world and Taiwan's history, presenting visitors with a variety of innovative residential design solutions. These solutions not only focus on the functionality of the living space, but also incorporate humanistic care and social values into it, thus creating a residential design that transcends the current generation.
