Event Details

Southeast Asia is a marine transportation hub. Various religions, cultures and living habits have taken root here, along with migrants, developing a diverse presence that has become an integral part of history. The National Taiwan Museum’s exhibition features a collection of centenary Nanyang exhibits, where the dialogue, between exhibits and contemporary Southeast Asian transnational migrants, sheds light on the religious beliefs, art and folk customs of Southeast Asia, depicting stories of encounters across various regions and cultural differences. The exhibition curation is inspired by the connection between NTM’s collections and the community. By collaborating with immigrant workers in Taiwan, the historical integration of life, collections and culture is presented in response to the diversity of modern society as well as culture. The exhibits are also endowed with warmth and vivacity through the narration and emotional response of contemporary Southeast Asian migrant workers.
