臺博館透過空間建模與區域辨識的技術，開發「智慧觀臺博」App，提供以個人手持行動裝置，瀏覽擴增實境展示說明的觀展新方式。
目前「智慧觀臺博」App服務場域已涵蓋「博物臺灣」的自然臺灣與浮生臺灣二展廳，除了翻閱說明版與核對展件號碼之外，還可以透過手機、平板來掃描展品，快速取得展品數位標籤。標籤內容不但納入原有的圖文說明，部分展品更添增3D檔案、圖片、動畫或聲音等，持續提供觀眾多感體驗。
策展團隊希望透過「智慧觀臺博」App的新穎展示服務，提升觀展的便利性，讓觀眾能在博物館環境氛圍中，享受知識的美好與休憩的愉悅，進而深度探索臺灣的自然生態，領略在地的人文風情

The “NTM Smart+” exhibit description app currently functions for the the Nature of Taiwan exhibition. Mobile devices are quickly calibrated to recognize the exhibits, thus providing visitors with both a novel way to obtain extended information about them, and the experience of viewing an Augmented Reality (AR) exhibition.

Taiwan has a diverse natural environment, rich natural resources, and a densely intertwined ecological context, history and culture of people. Only selective highlights can be displayed in the " Exploring Taiwan" exhibition, and since there are more than 1,000 items in total, it is impossible to arrange complete exhibit descriptions in the traditional way. Therefore, the NTM has used state-of-the-art spatial modeling and digital recognition technology to develop the “NTM Smart+” App to provide a way to easily browse full exhibit texts with a personal handheld mobile device. In addition to the original exhibit descriptions, the addition of digital pictures, sound and 3D animation has deepened the content for some items.

In the "Nature of Taiwan" exhibition hall as a pioneering experimental space of “NTM Smart+” App, in addition to flipping through the description board and checking the exhibit number, visitors can now scan the exhibits by using the App on their mobile devices and learn more about them. Here, they can check exhibit names, look at images or listen to sound whenever they wish. Regardless of the size and location of an exhibit, they can easily access the relevant content. Visitors can roam the exhibition space and enjoy the freedom of learning at leisure.
