活動簡介
Join us in this brief yet fascinating journey to explore Potehi culture of Taiwan! You will be introduced the history of Potehi in Taiwan, the secrets to maintaining the puppetry collection in the Museum, and the basic tricks to performing Potehi. What's more, you will have the chance to compete with other participants in a dash race inside the Museum-- with the Potehi puppet in your hand!
活動內容介紹

Potehi, Taiwanese glove puppetry, is considered one of the most symbolic performing arts of Taiwan.

Visitors may even see the PILI Potehi puppets at Taoyuan Airport. It was originally brought to Taiwan around the 17th century by various Potehi puppeteers from Southeat China. With the changes of Taiwan's society, Potehi also developed different genres in terms of the performance space, plots, effects, size and style of the puppets...
National Taiwan Museum (NTM), with the donations from the 西田社( Seden Society Puppet Theater) and the puppetry scholar Dr. 林經甫( Lin Chin-Fu), became the largest collector of puppetry art in Taiwan. To enhance the public's understanding in Potehi puppetry art, NTM is collaborating with Puppetry Art Center of Taipei (PACT) in this special English guided tour event.

Join us in this brief yet fascinating journey to explore Potehi culture of Taiwan! You will be introduced the history of Potehi in Taiwan, the secrets to maintaining the puppetry collection in the Museum, and the basic tricks to perform Potehi. What's more, you will have the chance to compete with other participants in a dash race inside the Museum-- with the Potehi puppet on your hand!

Meet us on the last two Sundays every month!

  • Venue: 2F, Culture Room, NTM Main Building
  • Time: 15:40-16:10 (24 March DEBUT Session 15:40-16:15)
  • Registration: Walk-in registration starting 14:40 at 2F Culture Room of the Main Building.
  • Capacity: 15 people. (24 March DEBUT Session accomodates 20 people)
  • Fee: FREE with admission.
