莎拉．麥克爾拉維 Sarah McElravy

加拿大中提琴家暨小提琴家薩拉．麥克艾爾薇以其「宛如天籟、雕琢細膩的音色」（《The Prague Post》）及「深刻的情感層次與極富感染力的音樂表現」（《Kleine Zeitung》）廣受讚譽，已成為當代最具影響力的獨奏家與室內樂演奏家之一。

2025/26樂季，薩拉．麥克艾爾薇首次與德國萊茵蘭–普法爾茨邦立愛樂樂團（Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz）、米蘭交響樂團（Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano）（由Cornelius Meister指揮）、札格瑞布獨奏家合奏團（Zagreb Soloists）及澳門樂團合作演出。此外，她將重返耶路撒冷交響樂團，展開波蘭及立陶宛巡演，並與奈登．托多洛夫（Nayden Todorov）指揮的索菲亞愛樂管弦樂團合作演出吉亞．坎切利（Giya Kancheli）充滿哲思意境的中提琴協奏曲《Styx》。

過去十年間，她曾與歐洲、亞洲及北美多個知名樂團合作，包括赫爾辛基愛樂管弦樂團、伯明罕市立交響樂團、漢諾威國家交響樂團、格拉茲愛樂管弦樂團、皇家利物浦愛樂管弦樂團、華沙愛樂管弦樂團、廣州交響樂團、拿坡里愛樂管弦樂團、俄羅斯國家管弦樂團及巴伐利亞廣播室內樂團等。這些合作使她登上世界各大音樂舞臺，演出經典曲目與當代委創作品。近年的重要演出之一，是世界首演由Benjamin Yusupov為她創作的中提琴協奏曲《Transcendent Love》，此作被譽為當代中提琴曲目中極具特色的重要新作。

本樂季，她亦將展開新的錄音計畫，與亞美尼亞國家交響樂團及指揮Sergey Smbatyan合作錄製亞美尼亞作曲家Tigran Mansurian的中提琴協奏曲。

身為活躍的室內樂演奏家，薩拉．麥克艾爾薇將首度參與史塔萬格音樂節（Stavanger Festival）及布魯格音樂節（Brugg Festival），並再次受邀參加Herbstgold Festival。她亦持續與小提琴家朱利安．拉赫林及大提琴家Boris Andrianov共同展開巴赫《郭德堡變奏曲》弦樂三重奏版本的國際巡演，演出場地包括倫敦威格摩爾音樂廳（Wigmore Hall）、阿姆斯特丹皇家大會堂、佛羅倫斯佩爾戈拉劇院（Teatro della Pergola）及米蘭威爾第音樂院。

作為小提琴家，她曾為Linden String Quartet創團成員（2009–2015），隨團巡演北美各地，並曾擔任耶魯大學及克里夫蘭音樂學院駐團藝術家，同時榮獲Concert Artists Guild、Fischoff及Coleman等國際室內樂大賽首獎。2014年，她創立Chamber Music Society México，致力於將世界級室內樂演出及教育資源帶入墨西哥市與庫埃納瓦卡，培育新世代青年音樂家。

薩拉．麥克艾爾薇曾居住於加拿大、美國、墨西哥及奧地利，是一位真正具有國際視野的音樂家。她兼具小提琴家與中提琴家的雙重身分，也充分展現其藝術理念既深植於古典傳統，又勇於探索未知；無論演繹巴赫經典或世界首演新作，皆游刃有餘。她始終懷抱無盡的好奇心，透過音樂探索聲音、文化與人之間的連結，並持續從不同的觀眾、文化傳統與人生際遇中汲取靈感，豐富其藝術生命。

薩拉．麥克艾爾薇目前演奏一把1791年製Ferdinando Gagliano小提琴及一把1785年製Lorenzo Storioni中提琴，兩把名琴均由維也納Dkfm. Angelika Prokopp Privatstiftung慷慨借予使用。

Praised for her “divine sound, exquisitely sculpted” (The Prague Post) and celebrated for her “emotional depth and expressive intimacy” (Kleine Zeitung), Canadian violist and violinist Sarah McElravy has firmly established herself as one of the most compelling soloists and chamber musicians of her generation.

In the 2025–26 season, McElravy makes debuts with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano under Cornelius Meister, the Zagreb Soloists, and the Macau Orchestra. She also returns to the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra for a tour of Poland and Lithuania, and to the Sofia Philharmonic under Nayden Todorov for Giya Kancheli’s transcendent concerto Styx.

Over the past decade, she has appeared as soloist with distinguished orchestras  across Europe, Asia, and North America — including the Helsinki Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony, Hannover State Symphony, Grazer Philharmoniker, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic, Guangzhou Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, Russian National Orchestra, and the Bayerischer Rundfunk Chamber Orchestra among many others. These collaborations have brought her to major international stages, where she performs both cornerstone works and new commissions. Recent highlights include the world premiere of Transcendent Love, a viola concerto written for her by Benjamin Yusupov, hailed as  a powerful and distinctive addition to the viola repertoire.

This season also sees the launch of a recording project, featuring Armenian composer Tigran Mansurian's viola concerto with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and Sergey Smbatyan.

Equally at home in chamber music, McElravy makes festival debuts at the Stavanger Festival (Norway) and Brugg Festival (Switzerland). She returns to the Herbstgold Festival and continues an international tour of Bach's Goldberg Variations for String Trio alongside violinist Julian Rachlin and cellist Boris Andrianov, with performances at Wigmore Hall (London), the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Teatro della Pergola (Florence), and Milan’s Conservatorio Verdi.

As a violinist, she was a founding member of the Linden String Quartet (2009–2015), touring widely across North America, holding residencies at Yale University and the Cleveland Institute of Music, and winning top prizes at the Concert Artists Guild, Fischoff, and Coleman competitions. In 2014 she founded Chamber Music Society México, bringing world-class performances and mentorship to young musicians in Mexico City and Cuernavaca.

A true global citizen, McElravy has lived in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Austria. Her dual identity as violinist and violist mirrors her artistic philosophy: rooted in tradition yet open to discovery, equally at home in Bach and in world premieres. Driven by an insatiable curiosity, she embraces her life as an explorer — of sound, of culture, and of human connection, drawing inspiration from the audiences, traditions, and encounters that continually shape her path.

She performs on a 1791 Ferdinando Gagliano violin and a 1785 Lorenzo Storioni viola, both generously on loan from the Dkfm. Angelika Prokopp Privatstiftung in Vienna.
