後浪漫的氛圍在技法、風格與素材中逐漸生成，從布拉姆斯到西貝流士，亦步亦趨。
如同錢南章的常動曲，終能在變化中找到恆常不變的真理。
錢南章的《常動曲》要求高度的樂團合奏默契，布拉姆斯的《雙重協奏曲》亦將室內樂擴張為與樂團相互協奏的大型樂曲。這兩首作品展現的都是作曲家求新求變的創作心境。
第一號交響曲是西貝流士創作大型管弦樂曲的初試啼聲之作，原以標題音樂為創作方向的西貝流士，一生共留下七首交響曲傑作，最後更成為北國最偉大的交響曲作曲家。聆聽這改變初衷的第一首作品，或許就能對西貝流士創作心境之轉變見之端倪。
From Brahms to Sibelius, post-romanticism gradually took shape in techniques, styles and topics.
Just like Chien Nan-chang’s “Perpetuum Mobile”, we will finally see the unchanging truth in the ever changing world.
Chien Nan-chang’s “Perpetuum Mobile” requires the orchestra to work as one. Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Cello also expanded a chamber music piece into a large-scale concerto. Both works show the composers’ desire to create something new.
Sibelius’ Symphony No.1 was his first venture into large-scale orchestra music composition. He initially wanted to write programme music, but in the end produced seven symphonies and became one of the most prominent symphony composers in northern Europe. Maybe his first symphony would tell us why he had the change of heart.
