VR 藝廊將於10至12月推出荷蘭沉浸式內容特展,因應此展演並延伸《復活巡演》所觸及的荷蘭殖民史,特別策劃專家講座【影子與亡魂】。本場講座邀請漢學博士羅斌,以荷蘭黃金時期、大航海時代為歷史背景,分享台灣偶戲與漢學研究中,關於台灣荷治時期歷史論述及其再現的觀察。

▎講者簡介 ▎

 

羅斌 Robin Ruizendaal

 

漢學家、劇場導演、偶戲研究者,台原亞洲偶戲博物館前館長,台洋劇團藝術總監,2024年臺北文化獎、臺法文化獎得主

 

 

- 荷蘭萊登大學漢學博士,博士論文以中國偶戲為題;1990年代定居臺灣,投入偶戲研究逾三十年

 

- 曾任台原亞洲偶戲博物館館長(2000–2020),現任台洋劇團藝術總監;著有《Marionette Theatre in Quanzhou》(Brill, 2006)、《Asian Theatre Puppets》(Thames & Hudson, 2009)、《Potehi: Glove Puppet Theatre in Southeast Asia and Taiwan》(2018)

 

- 編導超過二十部現代與傳統臺灣偶戲音樂劇場作品,將臺灣布袋戲推廣至五十餘國

 

- 2002年製作英語文獻劇《福爾摩莎荷蘭時期的故事》,開創以荷蘭視角重新演繹臺灣十七世紀歷史的劇場先例

 

- 2019年臺法文化獎、2024年第28屆臺北文化獎得主,臺北市榮譽市民

[Talk] Shadows and Specters

 

From Tales of Dutch Formosa to Revival Roadshow — When the Historical Archive Becomes the Puppeteer's Body

 

▎About the Talk ▎

 

To mark VR Gallery's special exhibition Wings and Waves: A Showcase of Dutch Immersive Content, running October through December, VR Gallery presents the lecture "Shadows and Specters." Building on the history of Dutch colonial rule explored in the VR work “Revival Roadshow.” This talk brings together sinologist Robin Ruizendaal to discuss Taiwan's history under Dutch rule, set against the backdrop of the Dutch Golden Age and the Age of Exploration. Drawing on his work in Taiwanese puppetry and Sinology, Ruizendaal will reflect on how the history of Dutch Formosa has been told, reimagined, and staged in Taiwan.

▎About the Speaker ▎

 

Robin Ruizendaal

 

Sinologist, theatre director, and puppetry researcher; former director of the Taiyuan Asian Puppet Theatre Museum; artistic director of Taiyang Theatre Company; recipient of the 2024 Taipei Culture Award and the Franco-Taiwanese Cultural Award

 

- Holds a PhD in Sinology from Leiden University, with a dissertation on Chinese puppet theatre. Ruizendaal settled in Taiwan in the 1990s and has spent more than thirty years researching puppetry.

 

- Served as director of the Taiyuan Asian Puppet Theatre Museum (2000–2020) and now leads Taiyang Theatre Company as artistic director. His publications include Marionette Theatre in Quanzhou (Brill, 2006), Asian Theatre Puppets (Thames & Hudson, 2009), and  Potehi: Glove Puppet Theatre in Southeast Asia and Taiwan (2018).

 

- Has written and directed more than twenty modern and traditional Taiwanese puppet theatre productions, bringing Taiwanese glove puppetry to audiences in over fifty countries.

 

- Produced the English-language docudrama Tales of Dutch Formosa (2002), one of the first stage works to reconstruct seventeenth-century Taiwanese history from a Dutch perspective.

 

- Awarded the Franco-Taiwanese Cultural Award (2019) and the 28th Taipei Culture Award (2024); named an Honorary Citizen of Taipei.

1. Online registration is now open, with 40 seats available on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

2. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the event. Reserved seats will be held until 5 minutes before start time, after which they will be released to waitlisted attendees.

 

3. The event will be recorded (audio and video) for the museum's educational outreach and online resources.

 

4. NTMoFA reserves the right to make changes to the programme; any updates will be posted on the museum's official website.

Lecture Participation Information

How to Participate

Participants are encouraged to visit the VR Gallery and experience the latest VR works prior to attending the lecture.

  • Registration is available online only.
  • A maximum of 40 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The list of admitted participants will be announced on the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) website. No separate notification will be sent.
  • Confirmed and waitlisted participant lists will be published on the museum website.
  • If confirmed participants are unable to attend, they must cancel their registration online or by phone at least three days before the event.
  • Vacancies created by cancellations will be filled according to the order of the waitlist.
  • Participants who fail to cancel in accordance with these regulations may be restricted from registering for future museum activities.
  • If online registration does not reach capacity, on-site registration will be available at the Art Library Service Desk on the day of the event.
  • Check-in time is from 1:50 PM to 2:00 PM.
  • Participants arriving after 2:00 PM will be considered to have forfeited their place, and vacancies will be offered to on-site registrants.
  • Audio, photographic, and video recordings may be made during the event for educational promotion and online resource purposes.
  • NTMoFA reserves the right to modify event content. Any changes will be announced on the museum's official website.
