To commemorate World Book Day on April 23, the VR Gallery of the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMOFA) is launching a special short-term exhibition centered on literature. The exhibition features the VR work "VER / FAR" by Dutch poet and immersive media artist Dorien Dijkhuis. By utilizing this poem-structured virtual reality experience, the exhibition aims to address a fundamental question: In an era where technology and geography have stretched the boundaries of our world, how can the "distance" and "connection" between people be reperceived and understood through immersive media.

FAR(VER / FAR)——
The visitor steps into a hand-drawn phone booth and receives a voicemail message. Night falls and the boundaries between reality and fiction begin to blur. A poetry-driven narrative about absence and yearning for connection guides you through dreamlike, fragmented landscapes, where distance and longing become tangible.
Curatorial Concept & Institutional Relevance
The exhibition redefines poetry and reading through immersive media: poetry is no longer confined to words on a page, but becomes a space we can physically inhabit. Viewers experience emotions of absence, longing and distance directly through body and senses, without rational interpretation. This show positions the VR Gallery as a platform for dialogue between immersive art and literature, while offering a representative model for reading promotion and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Director’s Statement
I write poetry about distance: about the people and places that stay with us long after we’ve left. VR makes that distance tangible — not as words on a page, but as a space we physically inhabit.
