The Greek philosophers, Empedocles and Aristotle, thought the universe is composed of fire, air, water, and earth, which mingle and separate under the influence of the opposing principles of love and strife. The utilization of these theories can be easily found in different types of literature and arts. Likewise, thinking in this way when composing greatly appeals to me, arousing my innate creation.
This piece includes one introduction and three main parts. The introduction musically describes the beginning of the universe by offering strong momentum. After the introduction, the atmosphere becomes mild, and some instruments start to render fragments tightly, as if air and dust are filling up the entire space. Then, fire appears and heats up the air until all the matter begins to burn and explode. When the peaks come, the water suddenly cools off all the matter. Later on, the fire burns hotter and conflicts fiercely with the water; also, the earth destroys all of these substances. Finally, although the four elements seem to make a balance as the beginning of creation, they become just remains.
When appreciating this piece recently, I come up with more thoughts: Although knowing that composing can be regarded as part of my life, I can still cultivate it with inspiration from my future life experience, as if the God only shows people a tiny window for them to seek the Truth of the Universe, cultivating their life.
