崔銖烈 l 指揮

「他是二十一世紀音樂界最理想的指揮人選。」這是韓國著名音樂雜誌【Auditorium】(2012年一月份)對崔銖烈的評論。韓國知名作曲家陳銀淑也表示:「崔銖烈先生是年輕一代中極具天分的指揮,我非常看重他特有的冒險精神、和對於現代音樂的投入。」

1979年岀生於首爾,崔銖烈因為特殊的天分、詮釋樂曲功力及深耕現代音樂的園地而受到外界相當多的關注。

從2010年秋季到2011年春季,崔銖烈擔任法蘭克福「國際現代室內樂團學院」(IEMA)的指揮,此團為德國最富盛名、深具影響力的「現代室內樂團」附設團隊。2011年,他被作曲家陳銀淑指定擔任首爾愛樂現代音樂系列-「新藝術」音樂會的助理指揮。自2007年開始,崔銖烈指揮的曲目即相當多元,包括了古典、現代到實驗性質的作品,曾於濟州國際音樂節、奧地利現代音樂節等地演出,指揮過作曲家尹伊桑、陳銀淑、薛爾希、澤納基斯、布列茲、胡博、黎姆、熊霍恩、穆赫爾、安卓爾、伯松、安泰爾等人的作品。

 崔銖烈曾就讀韓國國立藝術大學音樂系,獲得該校音樂學士及碩士學位。2010年,榮獲徳國文化交流獎學金(DAAD),赴德勒斯登國立韋伯音樂院深造,取得最高級演奏文憑。曾參加鄭明勳、帕努拉、外山熊三等人的指揮大師班接受指導,並曾任國際指揮大師羅許德茲特溫斯基、艾特沃許的助理。崔銖烈是貝桑松國際指揮大賽(2007)及卡戴克國際指揮大賽(2009)的決賽入圍者。

崔銖烈通過韓國富川愛樂「明日之星」指揮大賽甄選,並於韓國指揮協會「指揮人才庫」培育計畫中四度被選為「最佳指揮」(2004-2008)。年紀輕輕的崔銖烈指揮過許多樂團,如首爾愛樂、韓國廣播交響、水原市愛樂、富川愛樂、韓國交響、仙台愛樂、貝桑松管弦、萊比錫中德廣播交響、耶拿愛樂、茨維考愛樂、薩克森國立劇院管弦、新易北愛樂、奧厄市愛樂等樂團。2015樂季,他將首度指揮國立台灣交響樂團於台北演出,也將指揮韓國國立管弦樂團、並率領濟州音樂節室內樂團赴巴黎演出尹伊桑作品。

2013年起,崔銖烈出任城南藝術中心「午間音樂會系列」音樂總監,他費心策劃的交響樂曲目從古典到現代樂派,兼顧了精緻與挑戰性。2014年,韓國富比士雜誌評選「韓國最具權力之30位領導人」,崔銖烈正是其中一位,成為首位上榜的指揮。韓國音樂表演藝術雜誌【Gaeksuk】月刊舉辦的觀眾票選,崔銖烈也名列「下一世代十位頂尖藝術家」之一。

2014年,崔銖烈被任命為首爾愛樂助理指揮。

“He is an ideal of conductor that the 21st century music field demands of.” This is a comment of Korean famous music magazine ‘Auditorium’ in January 2012, also Korea’s Well-known composer Unsuk Chin described him “Mr. Soo-Yeoul Choi is one of the most exceptional talents among young conductors anywhere. Furthermore, I greatly value his adventurous spirit and his particular interest in contemporary music.”

Born in 1979 in Seoul, Soo-Yeoul Choi is receiving wide public attention for his unique talents and deep interest in contemporary music as well as being a young conductor with strong interpretative power.

From autumn 2010 to spring 2011 he led IEMA (International Ensemble Modern Academy), organized under Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt which is one of the most influential contemporary music ensembles in the world. From 2011 onwards, he was appointed by world famous composer Unsuk Chin to participate in the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra’s contemporary music series “Ars Nova” as an assistant conductor. Since 2007, he continuously performed works from diverse genres ranging from contemporary music to traditional classic and experimental music at music festival such as the Tongyeong International Music Festival (TIMF) and Austria’s Klangspuren Festival of Contemporary Music with the TIMF Ensemble with whom he has worked closely for some time. He has been performing many contemporary pieces by composers like Isang Yun, Unsuk Chin, Giancinto Scelsi, Iannis Xenakis, Pierre Boulez, Klaus Huber, Wolfgang Rihm, Johaness Schöllhorn, Tristan Murail, Mark Andre, Gerard Pesson, George Antheil and many others.

 Soo-Yeoul Choi studied at the Korea National University of Arts School of Music under the direction of Chi-Yong Chung and was conferred with Bachelor and Master-degree in Music. Afterwards in 2010/2011, he was awarded with scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and completed his Konzertexamenn at the College of Music “Carl Maria von Weber” Dresden with the highest honors. He also took conducting masterclasses under great conductors with Maestro Myung-Whun Chung, Jorma Panula, Toyama Yuzo and he also assisted international maestros such as Gennady Rozhdestvensky and Peter Eotvos. He also advanced to the final rounds of the 50th Besancon International Conducting Competition in France in 2007 and of the Cadaques Orchestra International Conducting Competition in Spain in 2009

In Korea, he passed the “Young   Rising Conductor” auditions of the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra and through the Rookie Conductor Program ran by the Korean Conductors Association, he was chosen as the best conductor four times in a row from 2004 to 2008. Despite his young age, he was able to conduct numerous orchestras including Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Besançon, the MDR Sinfornieorchester Leipzig, Jenaer Philharmonie, Philharmonisches Orchester Zwickau, Orchester Landesbühnen Sachsen, Neue Elblandphilharmonie Riesa and Philharmonie Aue among others. In 2015 season, he will give debut performance with National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in Taipei and his conducting engagements include the National Orchestra of Korea, TIMF Ensemble with the pieces of Isang Yun in Paris

Since 2013, he has been serving as music director and conductor for the ‘Martinee Concert Series’ at Seongnam Arts Center, he is currently focusing on adventurous yet sophisticated masterpieces of diverse orchestra repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary music periods.

He was also the first conductor to be chosen by Forbes Korea in 2014 as one of “Korea’s 30 Power Leaders” and by the Gaeksuk Monthly as one of the “Young Generation’s Leading 10 Young Artists.”

Choi is currently assistant conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, where he was appointed in 2014.
