林天吉 Tien-Chi Lin

四十歲以上的觀眾,都記得紅極一時的才藝挑戰節目「五燈獎」,能夠拿到五度五關的好手沒有幾位,流行天后張惠妹是其中之一,當年才國小五年級稚齡的林天吉,則創下最短登上兒童小提琴組五度五關寶座的傳奇紀錄。在臺灣,林天吉除以獨奏家的身分演出音樂會外並擔任台北愛樂室內及管弦樂團首席,是位極為活躍的小提琴演奏家。

林天吉為臺灣省宜蘭縣人,屢次在國內音樂比賽中獲獎,並具有豐富的國際比賽經驗;除獨奏、協奏外,也熱衷於室內樂演出,是國內極為活躍的小提琴演奏家;1993年畢業於國立臺灣藝術專科學校,1999年以小提琴演奏最高滿分畢業於國立臺北藝術大學研究所。

林天吉的指揮則是由台北愛樂室內及管絃樂團首任音樂總監已故指揮大師亨利‧ 梅哲 先生啟蒙;加入台北愛樂後,他的音樂才華立刻深受亨利‧梅哲所激賞。梅哲認為林天吉不只是在器樂演奏上表現出色,對樂團的掌握與組織亦相當敏銳,具有成為一名優秀指揮的潛力,並收為入室弟子,展開長期的指揮訓練。林天吉深得大師清通簡要的指揮手法與深沈悠遠的音樂神髓。他不僅僅從梅哲身上學習到指揮的技巧,在音樂內涵、藝術等等各方面的素養也有全面性的濡染。

1999年任職於國家交響樂團NSO助理指揮,2007年於臺北市立交響樂團擔任助理指揮。

擔任助理指揮期間除參與Tristan und Isolde、Tosca、Faust、Don Giovani、Falstaff、Wagner's Ring等多齣歌劇的製作外,林天吉經常以客席指揮的身分與台北愛樂室內及管弦樂團、臺北市立交響樂團,長榮交響樂團、臺北市民交響樂團、宙斯愛樂管弦樂團、十方樂集、國立臺灣交響樂團、臺灣弦樂團、臺灣管樂團、臺北市民管樂團、高雄市交響樂團、高雄市國樂團等樂團合作,並自2001年起,受邀帶領台北愛樂室內及管弦樂團至瑞典、芬蘭、德國、捷克、愛沙尼亞、波蘭、匈牙利、法國、斯洛伐克、中國大陸等國家巡迴演出。

自2006年起,林天吉出任台北愛樂室內及管弦樂團駐團指揮、臺北市民管樂團音樂總監、臺北市民交響樂團音樂總監、彩霞教育文教基金會董事,並於臺南科技大學音樂系、實踐大學音樂系、中國文化大學音樂學系、國立新竹教育大學音樂系、光仁中學等多所學校任教。

林天吉受奇美文教基金會邀請錄製的專輯《古典音樂理想國II 德奧篇》,於第24屆傳藝金曲獎入圍最佳演奏獎。

自2016年起,專職於中國文化大學音樂學系。

A well known musician in Taiwan, Paul Tien-Chi Lin is a present closely associated with the National Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan, and also pursues his conducting activities as principal resident conductor of the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra.

With the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra he has undertaken numerous European critically acclaimed sold out tours conducting concerts in Germany, the Czech Republic at the Prague Spring International Music Festival, in Helsinki Finland at Finlandia Hall, in Stockholm Sweden at the Berwaldhallen Concert Hall, Estonia at the Tallin Concert Hall and at the Estonian Glasperlenspiel Music Festival, as well as a return sold out concert in Helsinki at the iconic concert Rock Church venue in 2003, and at the AUVERS MUSIC FESTIVAL in France and a SOLD OUT concert in Paris during the 2005 Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra tour of France. Paul Tien-Chi Lin has also appeared with the orchestra in concerts in the USA.

Since the year 2000, Lin has been conducting the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra for numerous concerts and tours of Taiwan. He also joined the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra for the orchestra’s tour of Russia in June 2004, and also conducted concerts during the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra´s tour of Central Europe in September 2004, conducting concerts at the Wroclaw Music Festival in Poland, at the Krakow Music Festival, at the Budapest Music Days Festival and a live Hungarian Radio Transmission, and at the Prague Spirit Music Festival.

Paul Tien-Chi Lin showed an exceptional musical talent from an early age. He started learning violin at the age of five, under the guidance of various violinists such as Li Li-Shu, J. Learch, Sun Ciao-Ling, Leila Ransonyi, and Victor Pikaizen.

A winner of numerous violin competitions in Taiwan, Lin has also participated in many important international violin competitions. Not only being a soloist, Lin also enthusiastic in chamber music. He is at present one of Taiwan’s most prominent and leading violinists, as well as conductor.

Lin started to take an interest in conducting when he was the concertmaster of Taipei Century Symphony Orchestra, at the age of fourteen. When he joined Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra in 1990, Henry Mazer, the American General Music Director of the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra was delightfully amazed by his musical talent. Mazer thought that Lin was not only exceptional violinist, but was also sensitive in the control and construction of orchestral music.
