威廉.舒文哈莫爾是新生代男低音中的傑出新秀。他的演唱曲目極為寬廣,從巴洛克歌曲到當代音樂都能駕馭,而且囊括所有經典男低音角色,包括《費加洛的婚禮》的費加洛、《唐.喬凡尼》的李波雷多、《魔笛》的薩拉斯妥、《後宮誘逃》的奧斯敏、《羅恩格林》的亨里克王、《崔斯坦與伊索德》的馬克王、《唐懷瑟》的赫爾曼、《漂泊的荷蘭人》的達蘭德、《萊茵的黃金》的法索德、《費黛里奧》的洛可可、《弄臣》的斯巴拉夫奇勒、《艾蕾克特拉》的奧瑞斯及《玫瑰騎士》的歐克斯‧凡‧李赫諾男爵。舒文哈莫爾於2019年10月3日在德國柏林國家歌劇院首度演出尼柯萊的奇幻喜歌劇《溫莎的風流娘兒們》中瑞赫先生一角。2020年春季他將在巴黎歌劇院演出《萊茵的黃金》的法索德。這是由西班牙導演Calixto Bieito製作的全新巴黎版本《尼伯龍根的指環》。

這位男低音曾於慕尼黑、柏林、德勒斯登、維也納、里昂、米蘭、巴塞隆納、洛杉磯、華盛頓、芝加哥和多倫多等地的國際級歌劇院演出,亦曾在香港藝術節演唱。舒文哈莫爾同時也是音樂會演唱家,經常與知名樂團同台演出,包括柏林愛樂、波士頓交響樂團、班貝格交響樂團、北德廣播易北愛樂樂團以及科隆古樂團。在歌劇與音樂會演出方面則與很多知名指揮家合作過,包括巴倫波因、梅塔、佩特連科、尼爾森斯、拉圖爵士、亞諾夫斯基、韋格爾、赫爾維格等。

舒文哈莫爾在2005年薩爾茲堡音樂節首次登台,出飾威爾第《茶花女》中的格林維醫生,同台的還有女高音涅翠柯和男高音費亞松。2011年他重返薩爾茲堡復活節音樂節,在拉圖爵士的指揮下參與《莎樂美》演出。舒文哈莫爾也是拜魯特音樂節的常客,2012年首次演出《羅恩格林》的亨里克王大獲好評,之後多年連續在音樂節中詮釋此角。除了在2014與2015年重回拜魯特音樂節演出亨里克王之外,這段期間他也在德國劇導法蘭克‧卡斯多夫執導的《萊茵的黃金》飾唱法索德。2019年舒文哈莫爾在音樂節中演出新版本《唐懷瑟》,2020年將在新版本《尼伯龍根的指環》系列中出演《萊茵的黃金》及《齊格飛》中的法夫納。其近期重要演出尚有在芝加哥歌劇院演出由英國劇導龐特尼執導的新《指環》系列中之法索德、挪威導演赫海姆執導的新版莫札特《費加洛的婚禮》中的主角以及《後宮誘逃》中的奧斯敏。這兩齣劇都是在漢堡國立歌劇院演出。

威廉‧舒文哈莫爾出生於巴伐利亞,在著名德國雷根斯堡雲雀合唱團的音樂學院啟蒙。之後他到柏林藝術大學的音樂學院,在男低音哈拉德.史塔姆門下繼續聲樂訓練,並上過男低音克特‧摩爾與女低音禮波夫斯克的大師課。2003年他獲選加入漢堡國立歌劇院年輕藝術家計畫。

2006年舒文哈莫爾成為漢堡國立歌劇院的終身演出人員。自2017年他開始以自由藝術家身分接演出。舒文哈莫爾獲獎無數,曾於2009年榮獲知名ARD慕尼黑音樂大賽首獎及觀眾獎。

Wilhelm Schwinghammer is one of the finest basses of the younger generation. His large repertoire ranges from roles of the Baroque repertoire to contemporary music and covers all important roles of his voice catergory such as Figaro (»Le Nozze di Figaro«), Leporello (»Don Giovanni«), Sarastro (»Die Zauberflöte«), Osmin (»Die Entführung aus dem Serail«), König Heinrich (»Lohengrin«), König Marke (»Tristan und Isolde«), Landgraf Hermann (»Tannhäuser«), Daland (»Der fliegende Holländer«), Fasolt (»Das Rheingold«), Rocco (»Fidelio«), Sparafucile (»Rigoletto«), Orest (»Elektra«) and Baron von Ochs auf Lerchenau (»Der Rosenkavalier«). On 3 October 2019 he will make his role debut as Herr Reich in the new production of Otto Nicolai's comic-fantastic opera »Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor« at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. In spring 2020 he can be seen as Fasolt in »Das Rheingold« at the Opéra national de Paris, the new Parisian »Ring des Nibelungen« is staged by Calixto Bieito.

The bass has appeared at many of the major opera houses such as Munich, Berlin, Dresden, Vienna, Lyon, Milan, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Washington, Chicago, Tonronto and at the Hong Kong Arts Festival. Wilhelm Schwinghammer also has established his reputation as a concert singer, he regularly appears with renowned orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and Concerto Köln. For opera and concerts he works with Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Kirill Petrenko, Andris Nelsons, Sir Simon Rattle, Marek Janowski, Sebastian Weigle, Philippe Herreweghe and many other well-known conductors.

In 2005 he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival as Dr. Grenvil in Giuseppe Verdi’s »La Traviata« with Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon. In 2011 he returned to the Salzburg Easter Festival for »Salome« under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. He also is a regular guest at the Bayreuth Festival where he made his acclaimed debut in 2012 as König Heinrich in »Lohengrin«, a role he interpreted at the Festival again in the following years. In 2014 and 2015 he returned to the Bayreuth Festival as König Heinrich and in 2014 and 2015 he also sung the role of Fasolt in »Das Rheingold« directed by Frank Castorf. In 2019 he returend to the Festival in the new production of »Tannhäuser«, in 2020 he will take over the role of Fafner (»Das Rheingold« and »Siegfried«) in a new »Der Ring des Nibelungen«. Among his recent successes are Fasolt in a new production of the »Ring« directed by David Pountney at the Lyric Opera Chicago, the title role in the new production of Mozart’s »Le Nozze di Figaro« directed by Stefan Herheim and Osmin in »Die Entführung aus dem Serail«, both at Hamburg State Opera.

Wilhelm Schwinghammer was born in Bavaria and started his musical education at the music college of the famous ›Regensburger Domspatzen‹. He studied at the conservatory in Berlin (Universität der Künste) with Harald Stamm and took master classes with Kurt Moll and Marjana Lipovšek. In 2003 he was accepted in Hamburg State Opera’s Young Artist Program.

In 2006 he became am member of the permanent cast of Hamburg State Opera, since 2017 he has been working as a freelance artist. A recipient of many awards, he won the prestigious ARD Music Competition in 2009 and also received the audience award.
