寇比․魏爾契 | 男高音

男高音寇比․魏爾契出生於美國明尼蘇達州明尼亞波里斯市,明尼蘇達大學音樂系畢業(師事勞倫斯․威勒)。1998年赴德留學,在曼海姆音樂院跟隨著名聲樂教授魯道夫․皮爾內學習。在精進聲樂的過程中,他參加許多大師班,接受過雷弗庫斯、伍斯特曼、艾奎路茲等大師的指導,在拉維尼亞音樂節斯提恩學院時期(2000年),深受哈根嘎爾、海夫李格、凱茲、蓋瑞特及莫爾等前輩提攜。

2010/11 樂季,由魏爾契擔綱的歌劇男主角,包括了華格納《漂泊的荷蘭人》中的艾利克(於杜塞道夫歌劇院及拉脫維亞國家歌劇院演出)、莫札特《魔笛》中的塔米諾(紐倫堡國立歌劇院)、華格納《女武神》中的齊格蒙(威瑪國立歌劇院),和貝爾蒙特(莫札特《後宮誘逃》)、狄托(莫札特《狄托的仁慈》)、勇武騎士(浦朗克《聖衣會修女對話錄》)、羅斯隆伯爵(賴哈爾《風流寡婦》)等(以上皆於杜賽道夫歌劇院演出);音樂會曲目則有貝多芬第九交響曲、布瑞頓〈為男高音、法國號及弦樂的小夜曲〉、〈夜曲〉、舒曼的神劇《天堂與仙子》、華格納《齊格飛》第三幕以及布瑞頓《戰爭安魂曲》等。

2011/12樂季,魏爾契首度飾演理査․史特勞斯《沒有影子的女人》中的凱撒,布瑞頓《碧蘆冤孽》中的彼得․昆特,同時再度演唱艾利克、貝爾蒙特、唐荷西、勇武騎士、羅斯隆、唐․奧大維歐等角色;另外他也演唱了馬勒《大地之歌》、孟德爾頌《以利亞》、布魯克納《讚美頌》、普契尼《光榮彌撒》、布魯赫神劇《摩西》及貝多芬第九等音樂會。

2012/13樂季,魏爾契第一次挑戰了華格納《萊茵黃金》中的洛根(由梅茲馬赫指揮,於日內瓦大歌劇院演出)、齊姆林斯基《佛羅倫斯悲劇》中的巴爾第(由達靈頓指揮,於杜賽朵夫歌劇院演出),並接演齊格蒙、凱撒、艾利克、貝爾蒙特、艾德溫(卡爾曼《吉卜賽公主》)等角。音樂會曲目則有德弗札克《聖母悼歌》、孟德爾頌神劇《聖保羅》以及布魯赫《鐘之歌》等。

在這一個樂季當中,魏爾契演出的歌劇有布瑞頓《彼得․格萊姆》、華格納《羅安格林》(德國萊茵歌劇院)、《指環》(日內瓦歌劇院),並與碧娜․鮑許舞蹈劇場在香港合作演出葛路克《伊菲珍妮亞在陶里斯》,還有數場與指揮馬利納爵士同台的音樂會。

下一個樂季,魏爾契預計於德國萊茵歌劇院演唱理査․史特勞斯《納索斯島的阿麗亞德妮》中的巴庫斯,法蘭德斯歌劇院演唱穆索斯基《柯凡斯基之亂》中的高利津王子,羅里奧特改編的指環濃縮版《一夜指環》中的齊格蒙和齊格飛,他也即將參與德國馬德堡推出的《羅安格林》新製作,並赴東京、台北和布達佩斯演唱。

魏爾契也是一位活躍的獨唱家,近年來演唱過舒伯特《美麗的磨坊少女》、雅納捷克《失蹤者的日記》、布瑞頓《冬之語》《頌歌-五》《為男高音及豎琴的八首英國歌謠改編組曲》、芬濟《一個年輕人的忠告》、舒曼《詩人之戀》《聯篇歌曲集》《愛情遊戲》《桃金孃》等聯篇歌曲,以及理查․史特勞斯多首藝術歌曲。

魏爾契出版的錄音,有瑞霖指揮海頓的《特雷西亞彌撒曲》和古拜杜琳娜的《約翰受難曲》(Hänssler Classics唱片),由貝爾紐斯指揮雷哈的《蕾奧諾拉》(奧菲歐唱片),亞諾夫斯基指揮辛德密特的《漫長的聖誕晚宴》(Wergo唱片)以及麥克斯指揮曼納達斯的《馬丁路德於沃木斯會審》等曲目。

魏爾契曾受邀於西班牙拉柯洛涅莫札特音樂節演唱海頓神劇《四季》,於漢堡國立歌劇院演唱亨策《我們來到河邊》、蒙台威爾第《波佩阿的加冕》等歌劇,於德國埃森奧托劇院、葡萄牙里斯本聖卡羅國家劇院、義大利摩德納市立劇院及費拉拉市立劇院演唱理查․史特勞斯《納索斯島的阿麗亞德》,於德國路得維希堡音樂節演唱董尼才悌《愛情靈藥》,於荷蘭歌劇院演唱韓德爾《阿利歐丹特》,於雅典演唱理査․史特勞斯《沒有影子的女人》,於德國施威琴根音樂節演唱史卡拉第《泰雷馬可》,並且受邀參加德國石荷州音樂節、萊茵高音樂節等重要音樂節慶。

自 2003年起,魏爾契成為德國萊茵歌劇院的演唱家,擔任過許多莫札特歌劇中的男高音角色,像是塔米諾、唐․奧大維歐、貝爾非歐(《冒牌女園丁》)、狄托等。之後,他的角色逐步拓展到王子(普羅高菲夫《三橘之戀》)、凱撒(理査․史特勞斯《沒有影子的女人》)、平克頓(《蝴蝶夫人》)、王子(德弗札克《魯莎卡》)、艾利克(《漂泊的荷蘭人》)、齊格蒙(《女武神》)、彼得․格萊姆以及羅安格林等,歌路寬廣。

他擅長演唱的聲樂曲目包羅萬象,從巴赫的受難曲到韓德爾的神劇,古典樂派的莫札特、貝多芬到浪漫樂派的舒曼、馬勒(《大地之歌》),一路延伸到當代作曲家,如潘德瑞斯基、古拜杜琳娜、保盧斯、馬德納、艾格特等人的歌曲。曾經合作過的指揮包括了許萊亞、肯特長野、大植英次、薩瓦利許、畢契柯夫、亞諾夫斯基、斯隆、瑞霖、貝爾紐斯、梅茲馬赫等;亦與漢諾威廣播、柏林德意志交響、科隆西德廣播、柏林廣播、丹麥國家廣播交響、法國廣播愛樂、羅馬國立聖西西里亞學院管弦、耶路撒冷交響、國際巴赫學院、奧勒岡巴赫音樂節管弦、斯圖加特室內合唱團、柏林廣播合唱團、巴爾塔薩—諾伊曼室內樂團等許多音樂團體合作。

 

Corby Welch | Tenor

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA), tenor Corby Welch studied at the University of Minnesota-School of Music with Lawrence Weller. Corby moved to Germany in 1998, where he completed his studies with Rudolf Piernay at the HochschulefürMusik Mannheim. During his studies, the tenor participated in masterclasses with Sergei Leiferkus, John Wustman, Kurt Equiluz, and in the Steans Institute of the Ravinia Festival(2000)with HakanHagegard, Ernst Haefliger, Martin Katz, Margo Garrett, and Philipp Moll.

In 2010/11 Welch's appearances included Erik (Wagner “Der fliegendeHolländer“)in Düsseldorf and at the Latvian National Opera; Tamino at the Nürnberg State Opera; Siegmund in Wagner's "Die Walküre," at the Weimar State Theater; Belmonte, Titus, Chevalier de la Force (Poulenc “Dialogues des Carmélites“)and Rosillon (Lehár “Die lustigeWitwe“)in Düsseldorf, Concert performances included Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Britten's „Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings“ and “Nocturne,“ Schumann's "Das Paradies und die Peri", Act III of Wagner's “Siegfried,“ and Britten's “War Requiem.“

In 2011/12 Welch debuted as the Kaiser (Strauss “Die Frau ohneSchatten“) and as Peter Quint (Britten “Turn of the Screw“) and sang performances as Erik, Belmonte, Don José, Chevalier de la Force, Rosillon, and Don Ottavio. Concert projects included Mahler's "Das Lied von der Erde," Mendelssohn's "Elias," Bruckner's"Te Deum," Puccini's"Messa di Gloria," Bruch's “Moses,” and Beethoven's 9th Symphony.

In 2012/13 Welch debuted as Loge (Wagner "Das Rheingold") at the Grand Théâtre de Genève under Ingo Metzmacher and as Guido Bardí (Zemlinsky "FlorentinischeTragödie") under Jonathan Darlington in Düsseldorf, and will sing performances as Siegmund, Kaiser, Erik, Belmonte, and Edwin (Kalman "Csardasfürstin"). Concerts will include Dvorák's "Stabat Mater," Mendelssohn's"Paulus," and Bruch's "Das Lied von der Glocke."

This season included Welch's debut in the roles of Peter Grimes and Lohengrin at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, as well as performances as Loge in the Geneva Ring Cycle, Pylades in Gluck’s “Iphigenie auf Tauris” in Hong Kong with the Pina Bausch Dance Ensemble, and concerts with Sir Neville Marriner.

Future projects include debuts as Bacchus in Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and as VassilyGolitsin in Mussorgsky’s “Khovanshchina” at the Vlaamse Opera, as well as performances asSiegmund and Siegfried in Loriot’s “Ring in einemAbend,” a new production of Lohengrin in Magdeburg, and concerts in Tokyo, Taipeh, and Budapest.

Mr. Welch is also active as a song recitalist, most recently performing Schubert’s “Die schöneMüllerin,”  Janacek's “Zápisníkzmizelého“ (“Diary of one who Disappeared“), Britten's “Winter Words“, “Canticle V,“ and “Eight Folk Songs for Tenor and Harp,“ Finzi's “Young Man's Exhortation,“ Schumann's “Dichterliebe,“ Liederkreis op. 24, “Minnespiel“ op. 101, and “Myrten,“ and a program of Strauss Lieder.

Mr. Welch's recordings include Haydn's Theresienmesse and Gubaidulina's “Johannes Passion und Auferstehung“ with HelmuthRilling (Hänssler Classics),Reicha's “Leonore“ with FriederBernius (Orfeo), Hindemith's “Lange Weihnachtsmahl“ with Marek Janowski (Wergo), and Meinardus’ “Luther in Worms” with Hermann Max.

Mr. Welch's early engagements include Haydn's “Die Jahreszeiten“ at the La Coruna Mozart Festival, Henze's opera “we come to the river,“ and Monteverdi's “L'incoronazione di Poppea“ at the Hamburg State Opera, Strauss' “Ariadne auf Naxos”at the Aalto Theater Essen,the TeatroNacional de São Carlos in Lisbon, the TeatroComunale di Modena and the TeatroComunale di Ferrara, in “L'elisird'amore“ at the Ludwigsburg Festival, concerts at the Schwetzingen, Schleswig Holstein, and Rheingau Music Festivals, Handel's “Ariodante“ at the NederlandseReisopera, “Die Frau ohneSchatten“ at the Megaron in Athens, and Scarlatti's “Telemaco“ at the Schwetzingen Festival.

Since 2003 Corby Welch has been a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Operam Rhein Düsseldorf, where he sang many Mozart roles, including Tamino, Don Ottavio, Belfiore („La fintagiardiniera“)and the title role in „La clemenza di Tito.“ Welch's repertoire then expanded to include roles such as the Prince (Prokofiev „L’amour des trois oranges“), Kaiser (Strauss "Die Frau ohneSchatten"), Pinkerton („Madama Butterfly“), Princ (Dvorak „Rusalka“), Erik („Der fliegendeHolländer“), Siegmund („Die Walküre“), Peter Grimes and Lohengrin.

His broad concert repertoire ranges from the Passions of Bach and Oratorios of G.F. Handel, the classical and romantic works of Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann and Mahler („Das Lied von der Erde“), to the modern works of composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Sofia Gubaidulina, Stephen Paulus, Bruno Maderna and Moritz Eggert.
