Georgia Jarman

Following a series of high-profile debuts throughout the United States and Europe, Georgia Jarman continues to explore the lyric and bel canto repertoire as well as building a stunning reputation in more contemporary roles. Recent successes have included her highly acclaimed performances Roxana in Kasper Holten’s new production of Krol Roger under Antonio Pappano, marking her Covent Garden debut, and as Agnès in her return to the theatre last season in George Benjamin’s Written on Skin.

This season Georgia returns to the role of Agnès with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra at the Elbphilharmonie under Lawrence Renes and, further ahead, continues her collaboration with George Benjamin in performances of his new commission – Lessons in Love and Violence – throughout Europe and the US. Other highlights this season include Georgia’s return to Opéra National de Bordeaux as Lucia in Francesco Micheli’s new production of Lucia di Lammermoor under Pierre Dumoussaud, Violetta in Stefania Panighini’s new production of La traviata for Dallas Opera, and performances at the inaugural SUNY Purchase Festival in Tancredi under Will Crutchfield. In concert, she joins Paavo Järvi as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni with the NHK Symphony Orchestra.

Notable previous successes include Gilda (Rigoletto) for Georgia’s Santa Fe Festival debut, all four heroines in Richard Jones’ production of The Tales of Hoffmann for English National Opera, Maria Stuarda for Washington Concert Opera, Manon at Malmö Opera, and the roles of Mimi (La bohème), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Micaëla (Carmen) and Nedda (Pagliacci) - which have led to invitations from Den Nye Opera, New Orleans Opera, Florida Grand Opera and Palm Beach Opera. Especially sought-after in bel canto repertoire, she has made numerous appearances at the Caramoor Summer Music Festival with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s including, most recently, Zenobia in Rossini’s rarely performed Aureliano in Palmira, Norina (Don Pasquale) and Amina (La sonnambula).

Georgia has recently added the role of Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes) for Grange Park Opera, as well as the exacting role of Madame Mao (Nixon in China) for Cincinnati Opera, and Eurydice in Philip Glass’ Orphée for Portland Opera (recorded on the Orange Mountain Music label). She also sings Cathy in the world premiere recording of Carlyle Floyd’s Wuthering Heights with Florentine Opera, recently released by Reference Recordings.
