指揮 │ 詹姆斯．波斯諾 James Boznos

1969年出生於美國芝加哥的詹姆斯．波斯諾身兼演出者、作曲家、教育家及指揮家等多重角色。他曾於亞洲、北美及歐洲各地演出，且自2000年始擔任香港管弦樂團首席定音鼓手。

波斯諾曾與香港管弦樂團合作演出三次獨奏，演出曲目分別為：柯拉夫特的《第一號定音鼓協奏曲》、波斯諾本人的作品《定音鼓、旋轉鼓（太空鼓）交響樂協奏曲》、及世界首演的新編版柯拉夫特《第二號定音鼓協奏曲》。他曾於國立台灣交響樂團、新加坡交響樂團及日本金澤管弦樂團多次擔任客座首席。目前任教於香港演藝學院與香港大學。

在加入香港管弦樂團之前，波斯諾經常與芝加哥交響樂團以及波士頓和芝加哥的頂尖新秀音樂團體合作演出。那段期間的演出包括：與芝加哥室內樂團在歐洲巡演10天，演出布魯杜魏茲的《馬林巴琴協奏曲》；在希臘德爾菲的古老露天劇場演奏史拿加斯的《Psappha打擊樂獨奏曲》；以及在柏林國家歌劇院演出《形成 I》及《形成 II》替布烈茲歡慶七十五歲大壽，當天演出由布烈茲本人親自指揮。波斯諾亦指揮自己的樂團KLANG詮釋演出超過60首當代曲目，其中包括施托克豪森的作品《星期四的問候》的美國與亞洲首演場次。

波斯諾也以OZNO為筆名作曲，創作管弦樂、室內樂、獨奏樂、聲樂、電子音樂以及劇場音樂。近期在香港首演的作品包括：薩克斯風四重奏曲《沙丘話語》、寫給打擊樂獨奏及iPod音樂的《慫》、為16種對應樂器、合成交響樂及錄音帶音樂撰寫的第一首交響樂作品《天王的階梯》、寫給交響樂團的《Google》、由6種樂器、6部混聲及合成交響樂組成的清唱劇作品《復活》、由6部合唱、19位樂器演奏家及錄音帶音樂構成的清唱劇作品《預言》、為交響樂團寫的《家庭》、以及為定音鼓與合成交響樂作的《一刻、數刻及半刻》。中國愛樂樂團和廣州交響樂團不久將首演《第二號定音鼓、交響樂與mp3協奏曲》，而香港管弦樂團將於2020年與荷蘭指揮梵志登合作演出新交響樂作品。

James Boznos

A performer, composer, educator and conductor, James Boznos (1969, Chicago) performs throughout Asia, North America and Europe. Since 2000, he has been the Principal Timpanist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

James has been soloist with the HK Phil on three occasions, having performed the Kraft Timpani Concerto No.1, as well as his own composition Concerto for Timpani, Roto-Toms and Orchestra, and the world premiere of the revised version of Kraft's Timpani Concerto No.2. He has been a frequent guest principal with the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony and the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa. He teaches at the Hong Kong APA and Hong Kong University. 

Prior to joining the HKPhil, Boznos worked regularly with the Chicago Symphony and the leading new music groups of Boston and Chicago. In those years, some highlights include; a ten-city European tour with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra performing Brudowicz's Marimba Concerto; performing Iannis Xenakis' Psappha for solo percussion in the ancient amphitheatre in Delphi, Greece, and playing Derive I and II at the Berlin Staatsoper for Pierre Boulez' 75th birthday, with Boulez himself conducting. With his ensemble KLANG, he conducted over sixty contemporary works including the USA and Asia premiere of Donnerstags Gruss by Stockhausen. 

As a composer, James Boznos uses the pen name OZNO. He has written music for orchestra, chamber, solo, vocal, electronic genres as well as for the theatre. Recent premieres in Hong Kong have included: “Locutions of Dune”, for saxophone quartet, “Zoon, for solo percussion and ipod”, his first Symphony “Staircase of the Tian-Wang”, for 16 antiphonal instruments, synthetic orchestra and tape, “Google”, for orchestra, “Anesti”, for 6 instruments, 6 voices and synthetic orchestra, “Nevu’ah”, for 6 part chorus, 19 instrumentalists and tape, “Oikogeneia” for orchestra, and “a time, times and half a time” for timpani and synthetic orchestra. The China Philharmonic and Guangzhou Symphony will soon premiere “Concerto Nr.2 for timpani, orchestra and mp3”. In 2020, the Hong Kong Philharmonic will perform a new orchestral work with Jaap van Zweden.
