丁湘庭 Teng Xiang TING

Teng Xiang Ting is one of Singapore’s leading classical sopranos known for her versatility and expressive depth. Her repertoire spans opera, oratorio, and art song, from baroque through to contemporary music. Originally a law graduate, she pursued formal vocal studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, earning top distinctions before receiving a scholarship to the Swiss Opera Studio in Biel.

Xiang Ting made her operatic debut at age 23, performing Adina in L’elisir d’amore with New Opera Singapore, earning The Straits Times’ “Best Debut” of 2012. Her operatic roles include Alcina (Alcina), Mimi (La Bohème), Norina (Don Pasquale), the Governess (The Turn of the Screw), Ilia (Idomeneo), and Woglinde (Das Rheingold). In 2019, she debuted professionally in Switzerland with the roles of Belinda and First Witch in Dido and Aeneas at the Theatres of Biel and Solothurn, receiving praise from Das Opernmagazin for her “sparkling charm and youthful spirit.”

On the concert stage, her repertoire includes Berlioz’s Les nuits d’été, Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder and Mahler’s Fourth Symphony. Major oratorio works include Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Requiem and Brahms’ Requiem. Currently based in Singapore, she regularly collaborates with groups including Red Dot Baroque, Orchestra of the Music Makers, The Opera People, Wayfarer Sinfonietta and The Philharmonic Orchestra and the Jakarta Simfonia Orchestra.
