Born in Tainan in 1940, Yen Min-rui was taught by Wu Cheng-yan and Shan Shu-zi, both being Xu Bei-hong's students in Taiwan, and established a sound foundation of painter's skills. Yeh devotes himself to artistic creation and education. His works are characterized by a spirit of freshness and brightness. From his paintings, we glimpse his thoughts and exploration. Not boasting his skills, the painter creates a balanced mixture of water and colors and express the haphazardness and uncertainty intrinsic in watercolor painting. The subtle variation of colors embodies a special aesthetic of visual beauty.
