Born into a farming family, Lin Kuei-ying developed a deep passion for painting from an early age. Throughout adulthood, she balanced family life with her artistic pursuits. Drawing on decades of dedicated study and artistic practice, she has explored the ink-painting tradition of the Lingnan School, embracing its distinctive synthesis of Chinese and Western artistic sensibilities.
This exhibition brings together nearly 60 ink and color-ink paintings, featuring landscapes, flowers and birds, animals, Xue Mountain, bamboo groves, and other subjects drawn from nature. Guided by the principle of learning from nature, the artist aspires to a state in which "True and complete in form, harmonious and unified in spirit." Through a refined and understated approach, she observes life through art and expresses her inner sentiments through painting, finding endless joy in the creative process.
