Since childhood, Yang Yao-Chien has found it difficult to perceive others’ emotions and understand social norms. He often feels anxious in uncertain situations and seldom initiates interactions with peers. It was not until he was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome in his first year of high school that these differences in his developmental experience began to be understood.

Today, he has found his own unique mode of expression through colors and lines. This transformation stems from the patient and sustained guidance of his mentor, Chang Tao-Min, who led him into observing and creating ocean-inspired works. The paintbrush has become an important bridge through which he conveys emotions and connects with the world.

The Journey of the Little Fish” features more than fifty works created in watercolor, marker, and acrylic. These works present a rich and diverse range of ocean imagery, while also expressing the deep emotional bond between teacher and student.
