Weber's opera "Der Freischütz" (1821) is set in the vast and dark forest and glens in Germany. It is a legend about a group of hunters and how love and magic are connected to each other; and through Weber’s extraordinary skills, this fantastical tale is fully expanded into a Germanic romantic opera. The frightening scene at Wolf's Glen is the most impressive part of this piece of work. “Der Freischütz” presents many features: original and expressive harmonies and orchestral music arrangements, tight interactions between vocal and instrumental music, smooth and unified music flow, and a dramatic and effective rendering. And all of these significantly affected the works of later composers, including Berlioz and Wagner.

NTSO invite conductor Kent Nagano and famous opera singers from home and abroad will give an opera concert version of the masterpiece and introduce the audience to the wonderful world of classical opera.
