Designing Exhibitions for Children—2024 International Symposium on Children's Education in the Art Museum
隨著歐美博物館界趨勢與臺灣當代社會文化變遷,美術館中學校團體和家庭觀眾比重逐漸攀升,越來越多館舍以兒童作為目標觀眾思考展示設計與教育活動,抑或於館舍內部增設兒童專屬空間,顯見兒童觀眾的參觀需求日益受到重視。其中,為兒童觀眾策劃展示的理念、方法與技術也在實踐過程中不斷推進,舉凡兒童本位、動手實作、兒童研究、兒童參與及身心發展等,均為美術館營運團隊為兒童觀眾設計展示或策辦教育活動時的重要命題。
The trends in European and American museums, coupled with the changing sociocultural landscape in Taiwan, have seen a steady rise in the proportion of school groups and family audiences at art museums. Increasingly, museums are targeting children as their primary audience, thoughtfully designing exhibitions and educational programs to cater to their needs. Some institutions have even established dedicated children's spaces within their facilities, indicating that the attendance demands of child visitors have become a unanimous service objective for art museums. The curatorial approaches, methodologies, and techniques for exhibitions geared towards children have also been continuously evolving through practical implementation. Principles such as children-centered, hands-on experiences, children-centered research, children participation, and individual development have all become crucial considerations for museum teams when designing displays or organizing educational activities for young audiences.
桃園市兒童美術館於2024年4月正式啟用,開館展以「探險未來」作為主題,以藝術語言開啟館舍和所在城市之間的連結互動,並將在地觀點納入藝術家創作,其中更企圖涵納與美術館所在地兒童社群的共創成果。而在強調兒童觀點的場館規劃上,兒美館更試著在其策展方法學中納入新興的兒童博物館學理念,讓兒童之於美術館不再只是被動的觀看者,更成為展覽策劃與教育活動中積極的參與者/合作者。
Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts inaugurate its Taoyuan Children's Art Center in April, 2024. The opening exhibition, Where the Adventure Begins, not only connects the museum with the city by art, but also incorporates local perspectives into the artists’ creations. It attempts to include the results of co-creation with the children where the museum is located. In terms of venue planning that emphasizes children’s perspectives, Taoyuan Children's Art Center initiative aims to incorporate emerging concepts from the field of children’s museology into its curatorial methodology, empowering children to actively participate in exhibition-making and educational activities, transforming them from passive observers to engaged collaborators.
做為全臺第一座針對兒童觀眾量身打造的美術館,我們期待透過國際論壇理解美術館社群中新興的相關概念與具體實踐,是而以當代藝術作為邀請國內外學者與關注兒童的友善成人,齊聚兒美館探討當前多元的策展理念與方法實踐,作為兒美館開館之際送予臺灣兒童與自身的禮物與回饋,誠摯期盼藉由各方交流,開啟兒童策展更多樣的面向與可能的路徑。
As Taiwan's first contemporary art museum designed specifically for young audiences, the Taoyuan Children's Art Center aims to engage with the museum community on the emerging concepts and concrete practices related to children's art education. By convening domestic and international experts, as well as concerned adults, the symposium seeks to explore the diverse exhibition-designing ideas and implementation methods, marking a significant commitment to children's art education at the museum's inception. Through this exchange, the museum hopes to open up new avenues and possibilities for child-focused exhibitions.

參加對象:美術館教育人員、藝術教育工作者、研究人員或有興趣之社會人士。
報名期間:採線上預約報名,即日起至2024年5月24日截止(名額有限,額滿為止)。
一、當您登入桃園市立美術館(以下稱本館)網站進行活動報名時,您同意以下內容並於勾選同意後進行下一步。您瞭解:
