林芳瑜  Fang-Yu Lin

       抒情花腔女高音林芳瑜,畢業於國立臺灣師範大學音樂系,為美國印第安那大學聲樂演唱碩士、美國印第安那大學聲樂演唱博士(Doctor of Music, Indiana University, Bloomington, USA),副修音樂理論(Music Theory)。聲樂師事陳秀蘭老師、劉塞雲教授、李靜美教授、楊冬春教授,赴美後師事Patricia Wise教授、印大前聲樂系系主任Mary Ann Hart教授、Roy Samuelsen教授及Andreas Poulimenos教授。

       林博士活躍於國內外舞台,演唱足跡包括美國紐約卡內基音樂廳(Carnegie Hall, NYC)、紐約市Town Hall音樂廳、義大利、德國薩爾堡音樂廳、上海凱迪拉克音樂廳、美國印第安那歌劇院、新加坡維多利亞音樂廳、馬來西亞吉隆坡雪華堂、澳門、西班牙、斯洛維尼亞、台北國家音樂廳、台中國家歌劇院等。曾獲獎項包括全美聲樂教師聯會藝術家聲樂大賽印第安那優勝獎(Winner of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Artist Award Competition Indiana)、全美奧菲歐聲樂大賽美聲獎(Bel Canto award of the Orpheus National Vocal Competition)、道明盃宗教歌曲比賽全國冠軍、Neue Stimmen國際聲樂大賽亞洲區決賽(Finalist in the Neue Stimme International Vocal Competition)等。

      林博士為東海大學音樂系專任副教授及國立臺灣師範大學音樂系兼任副教授,教學及講座活動頻繁。國際教學邀約包括義大利Brancaleoni國際音樂節(2023年、2019年、2018年)、美國德州三一大學(2019年)、上海同濟大學(2018年)、美國印第安那州立大學(2016年)及德國Saarburg國際音樂節(2012年),也受國內外知名院校音樂系所如香港中文大學、國立台北藝術大學、台北市立教育大學、國立高雄師範大學等校邀請舉行大師班、擔任學位論文或各項考試評委,並擔任全國音樂比賽及大學音樂術科考試評審、台中市葫蘆墩文化中心演出審查會議委員、教育部十二年國教藝才班課程實施規範英譯工作計畫音樂領域諮詢委員等。除了教授大專院校的聲樂教育課程,林博士也積極參與聲樂推廣工作,除了多次受台中國家歌劇院、國立台灣交響樂團及榮星合唱團《星學校》邀請舉行講座,也受鏡電視邀請演出《舒伯特的藝術歌曲》節目、壹電視「健康2.0」及「每日健康」節目訪談、「新匯流講堂」演講「楊納傑克的歌劇《狡猾的小狐狸》」、東海大學EMBA課程演講《歌劇賞析》系列主講或籌辦,也參與編輯中華民國聲樂家協會出版的《義大利聲樂曲集》一至五冊,並於《好聲音診療室》一書分享健康嗓音的保健觀念。

       林博士過去曾任職美國印第安那北勞倫斯高中(Bedford North Lawrence High School)、東吳大學音樂系、輔仁大學音樂系及曉明女中音樂班,指導學生榮獲錄取美國印第安那大學音樂系聲樂主修、新加坡楊秀桃音樂學院聲樂主修及國內多所聲樂主修碩士班。學生曾獲獎項包括「美國ACE宗教歌曲大賽」全美冠軍、「ACE宗教歌曲大賽印第安那州」州賽冠軍、「日本古典音樂大賽」、聲樂家協會主辦之「聲協新秀」、「法文歌曲大賽」、「中文歌曲大賽」、「全國音樂比賽」、「武營歐普拉Let’s Opera!」聲樂大賽及「海峽兩岸大學生聲樂大賽」等獎項。林博士曾任聲樂家協會副秘書長(2016–2018),現為中華民國聲樂家協會理事(2018–今)、美國聲樂教師協會(National Association of Teachers of Singing)會員。

 

Fang-Yu (Grace) Lin, lyric coloratura soprano, has performed actively in the U.S., Italy, Germany, Taiwan, Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Spain, Macao, and Slovenia, singing in choral works, recitals, and concerts. She made her Carnegie Hall Stein Auditorium debut in 2011. Lin has had several successful solo recitals in the National Concert Hall in Taiwan (Frühlingsstimmen, 2013, Azulão, 2016, Mädchenblumen, 2016, Apparition, 2017, Clairières dans le ciel, 2018, In Blossom Time…, 2018, Charmant Oiseaux, 2020, Amorosi miei giorni, 2022), including the guest recitals at Rice University, Indiana State University, Trinity University, and the faculty concerts in the Saarburg International Music Festival (Germany) and the Brancaleoni International Music Festival (Italy).

Admired for her artistic interpretation and the beauty of the expressive voice, Lin was featured as Valencienne in Lehár’s Die Lustige Witwe, the soprano soloist on Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Bruckner’s Te Deum, Händel’s Messiah, Mozart’s C minor Mass and Regina Coeli, KV. 127, Schubert’s G Major Mass and B Minor Mass, among many other engagements. Lin has won a great number of prizes and awards since her student years. Lin was a district winner of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Artist Award Competition Indiana, and was a finalist in both the Neue Stimme International Vocal Competition in Japan and the International Mondial Chinese Vocalist Concours in Taipei. She received an honorable mention award in the Bel Canto category in the Second Chinese International Vocal Competition in New York, and the Bel Canto award of the Orpheus National Vocal Competition in Murfreesboro, TN. During her studies at Indiana University, she won several prestigious scholarships, including the Dean’s Scholarship, the Mendel Award, and the Opera Scholarship.

Lin is also an active academician. She has given lecture recitals on topics of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Janáček, and Boulanger in National Taichung Theater, as well as master classes at Indiana University, Indiana State University, Trinity University, TongJi University, and Tunghai University. She also presented her research on vocal pedagogy in the New Voice Educators Symposium at Indiana University and The Art of Performance Symposium at Tunghai University. Lin has served as a board member in the IU Student NATS (2004-10) and the vice secretary (2016-8) in the Taiwan Vocalists Association, and she is currently a member of the council in the Taiwan Vocalists Association and a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing(NATS). She serves as the co-editor of the Italian Songs and Arias, a 5-volume anthology published by the Taiwan Vocalist Association. Dr. Lin is also a passionate promoter of contemporary music. She performed in concerts in the Living Composers Forum (Edward Penhorwood, Richard Hundley), and she premiered the vocal works by Peter Burkholder, Robert Hatten, Paul SanGregory, Gabi Teodoru, Chia-Ying Chiang, Feng-Hsu Lee, Yu-Chung Tseng, and Ton-Yio Su.

Dr. Lin is currently an Associate Professor at National Taiwan Normal University and Tunghai University. She served as an adjunct at Fu Jen University, Soochow University, Stella Mattutina Girls’ High School, and Indiana Bedford North Lawrence High School. Her students won various competitions and prizes, including the National Championship in the ACE National Competition (USA), the ACE Competition Indiana District, the New Voice Competition, Japan Classical Music Competition, Concours de Chant Français, Let’s Opera!, Taiwan National Student Competition of Music, among other recognitions. Her students were also accepted by top-ranking voice programs, including those in Indiana University and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. Lin has been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses such as Vocal Pedagogy, Song Literature, Opera Workshop, Opera Literature, French Diction, Music Appreciation, On the Art of Singing, and Career Skills.

 

Lin received her Doctor of Music and her Master of Music in Voice Performance and Literature at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She received her Bachelor of Music in Voice Education and Performance at National Taiwan Normal University. Lin studied voice with Hsiou-Lan Chen, Sai-Yun Liu, Chin-Mei Lee, Ton-Chun Yang, Patricia Wise, Mary Ann Hart, and Andreas Poulimenos. She has participated in master classes and performances with renowned singers, conductors, directors and vocal coaches such as Frank Aiello, Gary Arvin, Joel Ayau, Karen Brunssen, Jeffrey Marc Buchmann, Nicholas Carthy, Eduardo Chama, Chih-Yi Chen, Mark Clark, Michael Ehrman, Thomas Grubb, Freda Herseth, Wei-En Hsu, Richard Hundley, Richard Jeric, Rosa Mercedes, Dominique Moralez, Marco Nisticò, Moon-Suk Park, Edward Penhorwood, Peter Philips, Scott Piper, John Poole, Susanna Rigacci, Casey Robards, Semyon Rozin, Roy Samuelsen, Donald Simonson, Paul Traver, Nikolay Verevkin, Roger Vignoles, Howard Watkins, and Virginia Zeani.
