魏哲曼斯 Ivo Weijmans

現代擊樂作曲家兼指揮家魏哲曼斯(Ivo Weijmans, 1965-)出身於荷蘭東南部的海爾德蘭省，求學時期進入荷蘭ArtEZ藝術大學阿納姆音樂院學習擊樂演奏及指揮，後取得管弦樂團指揮及擊樂獨奏家文憑。畢業後於1992年起應德國諾德鴻(Nordhorn)音樂學校聘任赴該校執教的同時，於該校籌組ConneXion室內樂集並擔任指揮、帶領該團多次赴歐陸各國進行巡演，並於每年十一月規劃辦理「交響搖滾之夜」系列音樂會—以交響樂團搭配搖滾樂團、擊樂團、合唱團及獨唱歌手演奏跨界音樂，已擠身德國當地最富盛名的音樂節之列。於2016年起應巴特本特海姆城市樂集(Stadtkapelle Bad Bentheim)之邀擔任該團音樂總監，並於2021年起擔任諾德鴻音樂學校執行長。

魏哲曼斯於進修期間亦嘗試投入執筆譜曲，其創作範疇聚焦於擊樂獨奏及重奏的撰寫及改編，曾受阿納姆愛樂管弦樂團(Het Gelders Orkest)及其他樂團之委託進行創作，其於2016與2018年所著之《Zaynah》與《Five Pieces after Munch》等作品分別應於荷蘭科爾克拉德市舉辦的第24及26屆世界音樂競賽而作。

Ivo Weijmans was born on the 26th of April 1965 in Lobith, a village in the South-Eastern part of the Netherlands. He studied percussion (with a specialisation on marimba) and conducting at the Conservatory of Arnhem. He wrote various compositions and arrangements, most of them for percussion solo and percussion ensembles. Two of his compositions, “Zaynah” (2016) and “Five Pieces after Munch” (2018) were commissioned for the World Music Competition (WMC) in Kerkrade.

In 1992 Ivo Weijmans started at the music school in Nordhorn (Germany) as a percussion teacher and conductor of several ensembles. There he formed the ConneXion Ensemble, a big-band extended with string quartet, percussion and vocals. With this ensemble, he made various concert trips to European countries. He also initiated the very successful concert series called Sinfonic Rock Night, which is a yearly event taking place in November. A big symphony orchestra together with a rock-band, choir, percussion and vocal soloists present - in four sold-out concerts - a combination of film music, musical and classic rock titles. He writes arrangements for this ensemble and is one of the conductors.

As of 2021 Ivo has been the managing director of the Music School in Nordhorn.
