每至歲末年初，維也納愛樂總會在金色大廳舉行新年音樂會，除舊布新一番。隨著影像轉播年代的到來，維也納新年音樂會儼然成為儀式一般，成為舉世矚目的音樂盛事。

在2024年2月初、即將告別癸卯年之際，國臺交在霍內克的指揮下，端出整場史特勞斯家族的曲目，還有女高音林芳瑜演唱雷哈爾的歌曲，有著濃厚的維也納風味。而且這場音樂會所挑選的曲目，不是應付觀光客，淨挑一些家喻戶曉的舞曲。除了《蝙蝠》序曲、《南國的玫瑰》、撥弦波爾卡舞曲幾首是為聽眾熟知的之外（但多半是看錄影，未必現場聽過），有更多是一般聽眾感到陌生的圓舞曲與波爾卡。這些樂曲對於維也納在地人來說，是從小就聽慣的；對於像霍內克這樣在維也納愛樂任職多年的音樂家，史特勞斯家族的作品更是基本功。

三拍子的圓舞曲要保有微妙的彈性速度，不能流於死板，演奏得優雅飛揚，並非易事。二拍子的波爾卡舞曲源於波希米亞，在浪漫主義的風潮中扶搖直上，受到歡迎，並流傳到其他歐洲國家。「快速波爾卡舞曲」節奏緊湊，火光四射，深具感染力，一曲演完，總是引起聽眾忘情鼓掌。

國臺交經過霍內克持續傳授，對德奧曲目的精髓有更深的體會，更能拿捏史特勞斯家族圓舞曲與波爾卡舞曲的分寸。（撰文／吳家恆）
 

The Vienna Philharmonic performs a New Year's Concert in the Golden Hall each year to ring in the new year. Thanks to video broadcasting, the Vienna New Year’s Concert has become part of the new year’s celebrations and a world-famous musical event.

Conductor Honeck and NTSO present a concert of the Strauss family's works as we prepare to bid farewell to the Year of the Rabbit in February 2024. Songs by Lehár, performed by soprano Fang-Yu Lin, also bring in a strong Viennese flair.

This is not a concert that caters to the general public: in addition to the Overture from Die Fledermaus, "Rosen aus dem Süden", and “Pizzikato-Polk”, which are all quite well-known pieces (though most of the audience has never heard them live), the concert features a number of waltzes and polkas that are not that popular among the Taiwanese public.

The Viennese, however, would be familiar with these works from a young age. And interpreting the works of the Strauss family is an essential requirement for artists like Honeck, who have spent a significant amount of time performing with the Vienna Philharmonic.

A three-beat waltz’s subtly flexible speed is difficult to maintain because the tempo cannot be stiff and the music must be performed elegantly. The two-beat polka, which has its roots in Bohemia, gained popularity during the era of Romanticism and expanded to other nations in Europe. The intense and energetic “Im Sturmschritt, Polka schnell” has a compact rhythm and is very infectious. This composition always garners enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Under the tutelage of Honeck, NTSO has gained a deeper understanding of the essence of German-Austrian music and how to interpret the waltzes and polkas by the Strauss family.
