這場由衛武營簡文彬總監指揮的音樂會，韋伯的F大調低音管協奏曲無疑是引人注目的亮點。一方面，挪威低音管獨奏家達格．詹森頗有來頭，他學了五年低音管之後，十六歲就進入卑爾根愛樂管弦樂團，之後在數個樂團擔任首席，其中包括阿巴多創立的琉森節慶管弦樂團。他也以獨奏家的身分，在小澤征爾、霍格伍德等大師的指揮下，與眾多樂團合作，同時也是莎賓梅耶木管重奏的成員。其鋒頭之健，少有低音管演奏家能比。

再者，2023年9月簡文彬在衛武營指揮了奧地利茵斯布魯克歌劇院製作的韋伯歌劇《魔彈射手》。韋伯自幼在劇團長大，對音樂的戲劇元素有著幾乎是與生俱來的敏感。在歌劇中調配樂器的色彩，在器樂作品注入歌劇的風味。簡文彬總監《魔彈射手》的餘音未歇，又演出韋伯的低音管協奏曲，詮釋應當更深入。

而白遼士，一如韋伯，也是一個苦心營造管弦色彩、追求戲劇效果的作曲家。對白遼士來說，《羅密歐與茱麗葉》意義非凡，除了莎士比亞的魅力之外，白遼士也是在看了愛爾蘭女伶哈麗葉．史密森演出此劇之後，迷上這位女演員，求愛不得，成為譜寫《幻想》交響曲的緣由，也埋下日後創作《羅密歐與茱麗葉》的種子。（撰文／吳家恆）

Weber’s Bassoon Concerto in F Major is undoubtedly a striking highlight in this concert conducted by National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) Artistic Director Wen-Pin Chien. Renowned Norwegian bassoon soloist Dag Jensen spent five years studying the instrument before beginning his professional career at the age of sixteen with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. He later served as a concertmaster in several orchestras, including the Lucerne Festival Orchestra founded by Claudio Abbado. Jensen has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras and worked with distinguished conductors including Seiji Ozawa and Christopher Hogwood. He is also a member of the Bläserensemble Sabine Meyer. Few bassoonists possess such a broad range of professional qualifications and expertise.

Weber had an almost natural sensitivity to the theatrical aspects of music as he was raised in a theater company. This composer mixed colors of different musical instruments in operas and infused flavors of the opera into instrumental works. Having just conducted Weber’s opera Der Freischütz (produced by the Innsbruck Opera House) at Weiwuying in September 2023, Artistic Director Wen-Pin Chien is sure to bring a powerful interpretation of the same composer's Bassoon Concerto.

Like Weber, Berlioz is a composer who aims to produce vivid orchestral tones and dramatic effects. The Roméo et Juliette choral symphony has great significance to the composer: besides Shakespeare’s mastery of the work, Berlioz was deeply impressed by Irish actress Harriet Smithson after watching her perform the play. However, the love was unrequited, leading him to write the “Symphonie fantastique” which inspired the later Roméo et Juliette.
