跨越邊界的童心：臺灣原創繪本外譯書展

在圖像敘事越來越有影響力的時代，繪本是最容易跨越語言，同時也是充滿藝術性的作品類型之一。臺灣的繪本創作者在長期文化交融與多元開放的社會氛圍下，已淬鍊出具特色的「說故事技巧」，他們擅長在圖像敘事中營造電影般的運鏡節奏，於文字與圖像之間，如雙重奏般地共舞，並經常創造出如詩如畫般的氛圍；同時，在看似輕巧的童趣中，往往伏藏著對普世價值、哲學思考與生命境遇的深層叩問。透過作品翻譯作為橋樑，這些揉合了臺灣肌理與世界共鳴的故事，近年來屢屢獲得國際重要獎項，一本又一本充滿魅力的繪本創作，正以不同的語言譯本陪伴國外的孩童成長。

本書展配合「玩家登入：兒童文學特展」展期，將這些走向世界舞台，近年來在國際上大放異彩的臺灣原創兒童繪本外譯作品，依照敘事特質與主題、閱讀年齡，劃分為五大子題，期盼透過這些跨越語言的作品，展現臺灣兒童文學的豐富面貌，及獨特的創作能量。

●動物寓言及童話：幽默與哲思的化身

動物，是兒童文學中最具跨文化穿透力的角色。臺灣創作者筆下的動物寓言，充滿了現代心理學的層次與生動的幽默感。繪本作家透過令人印象深刻的動物，探討自我認同、人際關係等的深刻命題；豐富的細節、宛如尋寶般的圖像敘事，精準捕捉孩子的情緒起伏與轉折；樸拙童趣的筆觸與充滿禪意、哲學的慢節奏，帶著讀者在動物故事的奇思妙想中，咀嚼生活的哲理。

臺灣擁有多重歷史記憶與豐富生態，這些壯闊或隱微的在地文化，成為創作者豐沛的靈感來源。不同的媒材、技法，將臺灣的歷史脈絡、轉型正義、常民文化與自然景貌，轉化為深具視覺震撼力的圖像小說與繪本。當這些帶著濃郁海島氣息的故事被翻譯成外文，它們便成為世界理解臺灣文化厚度最美麗的視窗。

兒童的雙眼，總能看見日常風景裡的非日常。這系列作品展現自由奔放與輕盈，自在的線條、隨性的色彩，充滿音樂性的文字節奏，完美捕捉了孩童那份不講理卻無比迷人的想像力，這些繪本向世界展示了臺灣創作者如何將最平凡的一天，透過圖文創造出一場充滿歡笑的冒險故事。

●內在宇宙的微光：深邃的情感連結

這系列作品凝視內在的孤獨，或人與人、人與寵物之間的互動記憶及深刻的情感連結，創作者以細膩的心思及筆觸創作出令人難忘的佳作，除了善於運用視覺隱喻，也能在圖文連續敘事的過程中接住每一顆需要被撫慰的心，證明了繪本不僅是孩子的讀物，更是全人類的靈魂解藥。

許多故事的開展，始於對世界的好奇和想像。這些作品較沒有艱澀的隱喻或曲折的敘事，創作者透過色彩、形狀、聲音的節奏、簡單的故事，以及熟悉的日常生活場景、有趣的生活細節，像是一面面小鏡子，映照出孩子認識自我、與外界互動、探索世界的冒險過程。

Crossing Borders with Childlike Wonder: Original Taiwanese Picture Books in Translation

As visual narratives continue to gain prominence, picture books have gained recognition as a literary form that is both deeply artistic and uniquely suited to crossing linguistic and cultural boundaries. In Taiwan, picture book creators have developed a distinctive approach to storytelling, shaped by the island's long history of cultural exchange and its open, diverse society. Their works unfold with cinematic pacing, while words and images move in concert to evoke scenes akin to poetry and painting. Yet beneath their seemingly lighthearted charm often lie deep reflections on universal values, philosophical inquiry, and the complexities of life. Woven from Taiwan's cultural fabric yet resonant across cultures, these stories have crossed over language barriers through translation, reaching even more readers in other lands. In recent years, many have received major international awards, and an ever-growing collection of these captivating picture books has become cherished companions for children in many different languages.

Presented in conjunction with Player Login – Children's Literature Special Exhibition, this exhibition brings together original Taiwanese picture books whose translated editions have earned international acclaim. The books are organized into five sections based on their narrative style, theme, and intended reading age, offering a window into the wide range of Taiwan’s children’s literature and unique creative energy that brings it to life.

Animal Fables and Fairy Tales: Stories of Wit and Wisdom

Animals are among the most universally relatable characters in children's literature. Taiwanese animal fables blend modern psychological nuance with lively humor as memorable animal characters explore profound themes of self-identity and interpersonal relationships. Detailed visual storytelling turns every page into a treasure hunt while aptly capturing the emotional highs, lows, and turning points of childhood. With an unpretentious, childlike touch and a gentle, contemplative pace, these stories invite readers to reflect on life's quiet philosophies through fantastical tales of animals.

Rather than relying on abstract metaphors or complex plot lines, these works draw on vibrant colors, expressive shapes, the rhythm of sound and language, simple stories, familiar everyday settings, and delightful details from daily life. Like a series of small mirrors, they offer glimpses into a child's journey of self-discovery, their interactions with the world around them, and the adventures that come with discovering it.
