Writing Is a Lucid Dream: An Exhibition of Writing-in-Residence at the Taiwan Literature Base

...Capture a moment of feeling in writing and enter your own "lucid dream."

A lucid dream is one in which the person realizes that they are dreaming.

A period of writing-in-residence here at TLB involves the same kind of self-awareness. During their residencies, writers not only focus on creating and capturing their insights into the everyday, but also immerse themselves in an unfamiliar place, letting themselves be moved and be called upon, while looking back again and again to examine their own shifting possibilities.

The first Taiwan Writers Festival is being held at the Taiwan Literature Hub in November 2025. Centered around the theme of Worlds Awaken, it leads readers on a tour of the vibrant blossoming and diverse growth of Taiwan's writers and literature.

Opening on November 1, Writing Is a Lucid Dream: An Exhibition of Writing-in-Residence at the Taiwan Literature Base echoes the Writers Festival in showing how writers from different fields, backgrounds, and experiences observe and reflect on the dreaming world (ordinary life) and the waking one (creative writing). This exhibition of everyday life and creativity in TLB's Muse Garden offers the public a close-up view of how literature is made.

Writers will gradually adapt to the unfamiliar location, and their work will also show changes in conception, writing, and revision.

As a part of their "lucid dream" in the Muse Garden, daily life here shaped not only the creative process of writers-in-residence, but also the works themselves.

You are welcome to write your own thoughts and creative remarks here! Capture a moment of feeling in writing and enter your own "lucid dream."

Raw emotion, the light and shadows on your window, or cooling off in the shade – these fleeting experiences are all opportunities to be creative.
When the opportunity strikes, give everyday life more meaning by picking up a pen and writing your own story!
