How to Apply
- All applications must include: (1) A portfolio statement describing the applicant's creative practice and experience; (2) a residency proposal; and (3) at least one published (commercial or non-commercial) work.
- We accept only online applications. After you complete the Writers-in-Residence application form on the official online registration platform, please submit copies of requested ID documents, a properly formatted digital copy of your residency proposal, and all other supporting materials to the same website before the deadline.
- Submitted applications may not be revised. Incomplete or late applications as well as materials submitted that are not in line with program guidelines will not be considered. (The submission date will be determined based on the timestamp recorded by the website system when the applicant completes the application process.)
Selection Process
- Preliminary review: The NMTL will conduct an initial review of each applicant's qualifications and submitted materials.
- Final review: A selection committee of 3~5 members convened by the NMTL will conduct the final review.
- After formal approval, the selection results will be publicly posted and the successful applicants will be individually notified. Applicants who are not selected will not otherwise be notified. The names of the selection committee members will also be made public.
Residency Requirements
- Residency Activities: The selected writers in residence must move into their assigned accommodations in accordance with their proposed residency schedule. They are expected to hold at least one reader engagement activity, such as a reader exchange or sharing session, on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday) each week during the residency. The activities details will be jointly determined by the NMTL and the selected writers.
- Final Report: The selected writers in residence must submit a final report aligned with their proposed residency plan within five days after the residency ends. Failure to meet this deadline will result in a three-year disqualification from applying for the Writers-in-Residence Program.
Notices
- Selected writers in residence must sign a contract with the NMTL no later than the first day of residency. If unable to proceed or comply with the scheduled residency period, they must obtain prior approval from the NMTL for any changes. Failure to do so will be considered a forfeiture, and no objections will be accepted.
- Selected writers in residence must fully commit to residency and provide a schedule before the start of their stay. If their actual stay is less than two-thirds of the approved residency period, their residency qualification will be revoked, and they will be ineligible to apply for the NMTL Writers-in-Residence program for the next three years.
- Selected writers in residence must cooperate with the NMTL's promotional activities and participate in interviews and filming that document the residency activities.
- Selected writers in residence shall guarantee that the submitted works and residency proposals to the NMTL do not infringe upon the rights of any third party. In the event of any infringement, the writer shall be solely responsible for resolving the matter. If such infringement results in damage to the NMTL or causes the NMTL to bear joint liability for compensation, the writer shall be fully liable for all related compensation.
- Selected writers in residence may not concurrently participate in residency programs hosted by other agencies or organizations.
- If the selected writers in residence violate the regulations of the "Operation Directions for Selecting Writers-in-Residence of Taiwan Literature Base of National Museum of Taiwan Literature," the terms of the contract, or any laws, administrative orders, public order, good morals, or engage in conduct that damages the institution's image, their selection may be revoked or terminated as deemed necessary.
