Ian Rowen  伊恩

◆ 現任國立臺灣師範大學臺灣語文學系副教授，曾任新加坡南洋理工大學擔任社會學、地理學和城市規劃助理教授

◇ Ian Rowen is Associate Professor in the Department of Taiwan Culture, Languages, and Literature at National Taiwan Normal University.

◇ He previously served as Assistant Professor of Sociology, Geography and Urban Planning at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. 

◆ 著作《One China, Many Taiwans: The Geopolitics of Cross-Strait Tourism》於2023年由康乃爾大學出版社出版。

◇ His book, One China, Many Taiwans: The Geopolitics of Cross-Strait Tourism was published by Cornell University Press in January 2023.

◆ 精通華語和印尼語，是《Transitions in Taiwan: Stories of the White Terror》的編輯，翻譯作品包括由周美玲執導的獲獎影片《艷光四射歌舞團》和《刺青》。

◇ Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and proficient in Bahasa Indonesia, he is editor of Transitions in Taiwan: Stories of the White Terror (Cambria Press, 2021).

◇ Ian's previous translations credits include such award-winning films as ‘Splendid Float’ and ‘Spider Lilies’, directed by Zero Chou.

並且介紹近年外譯的作家、主題、作品，順道分享翻譯中的作品，

一同窺見文學的未來

This lecture provides an overview of the National Museum of Taiwan Literature’s achievements in translating and promoting Taiwanese literature in English.

It covers the major writers, themes, and publications to have received support, and gives a sneak peak of exciting works in progress.

The lecture will be conducted in English, and the Q&A may be Mandarin/English bilingual.

臺灣旅德作家陳思宏著作《 鬼地方》 不只拿下臺灣文學金典獎

迄今已翻譯英文、希臘文、波蘭文、泰文、韓文、日文、義大利文、越南文、芬蘭文、德文、法文及烏克蘭文共計12種語言版權

英文版《鬼地方》（Ghost Town）更獲紐約時報推薦、入選美國《圖書館雜誌》2022年世界文學年度十大好書（Library Journal Best Books 2022）

大幅提升臺灣文學國際能見度。

這次將由雙語讀書會的形式，駐村作家以譯者的身分與大家共讀作品。

The Taiwanese-German writer Chen Sihong's work "Ghost Town" not only won the Taiwan Literature Classic Award

but has also been translated into a total of 12 languages, including English, Greek, Polish, Thai, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Vietnamese, Finnish, German, French, and Ukrainian.

The English version, titled "Ghost Town," received recommendations from The New York Times and was selected as one of the top ten world literature books of the year in 2022 by the American Library Journal Best Books 2022, among other honors. This has significantly elevated the international visibility of Taiwanese literature.

In this event, the writer-in-residence will engage in a bilingual reading group, participating as a translator to collectively read the work with the audience.
