Attempting to depict the profound and mysterious symbolism of each planet in the solar system (excluding Earth) in his work, English composer Holst created his intriguing composition The Planets (1914-1917). The music presents the correlations between the planets and mythology, for example, the planet Mars and the God of War, the planet Mercury and Venus, the Goddess of Peace; Jupiter and the God of Joy, and the planet Saturn which indicates old age. The seven pieces of music each have their own unique tempo, rhythm, tone, and poetry, inviting us to look up to the night sky and loose ourselves in endless reverie.

NTSO will perform this masterpiece under the seasoned baton of Dutch conductor Edo de Waart. Yet in the first half of the concert, we will first perform Mozart's Symphony No. 29 in A Major. This is not a random arrangement of the program; instead, the conductor wishes to show that he is not here to attract audiences with loud and pompous displays, but to focus on presenting the small, delicate details.
